Covid Antibody Testing Available in Clinic

Updated: Jun 15, 2020

We are delighted to announce that we will be offering the CE Certified Covid-19 antibody testing from our clinic in Milton Keynes. These tests will be conducted by our two NHS nurse practitioner prescribers and we have been given Essential Service status so our clients can be assured that their tests are undertaken by qualified medical staff in clean and comfortable surroundings with immediate results.

Our test is conducted by Registered NHS Nurse practitioner prescribers so it is exempt from VAT. Your results will be available during your private consultation.

As well as the Covid Antibody Test, your consultation will include a health check covering blood pressure and pulse, height, weight and BMI, oxygen levels, blood sugar level check, along with guidance on exercise and nutrition including supplements.

The Covid antibody test works by measuring two different antibodies, immunoglobulin G (IgG) which takes time to form after an infection but is the most common antibody to protect against infections, and immunoglobulin M (IgM), the first antibody produced when the body encounters an infection.

The professional use Covid antibody test, distributed by Oxford Biosystems in the UK, is registered with the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency. The antibody tests require a minimum volume of blood to ensure accuracy in testing and our tests are undertaken by appointment only at our private clinic by Fiona or Grace, our nurse practitioner prescribers who have a combined experience of over 40 years.

By performing the test in clinic it eliminates any concerns or delays associated with postal sample testing and it provides a comfortable and more personalised experience for our clients who want to know what their next steps are.

Once you email to register your interest in booking your Covid-19 antibody test, we will contact you to guide you through the pre-screening questionnaire and arrange your payment and clinic appointment. Please be aware that if you are showing signs of Covid infection this test is not appropriate and you should self-isolate for the required 14 days and book to be tested for Covid. When you arrive for your appointment we will provide you with PPE and hand sanitiser and your temperature will be taken. If your temperature is below 37.8 you will be taken to one of our two testing stations in our upstairs clinic.

Fiona or Grace will then take your blood sample either using a lancet if we can get enough of a sample or drawing blood if required to ensure we have enough of a sample to produce an accurate reading.

The test results will be available in as little as 10 minutes and your nurse practitioner will discuss your result with you at your appointment and advise what you need to do.

The consultation will last approximately 40 mins and you will be with your nurse practitioner the entire time. This consultation is more than just the test for the covid antibodies. During your consultation, we will talk you through any underlying concerns you may have experienced during lockdown, general anxieties you may have about returning to “normal” and your overall health and wellbeing, including how to help keep your immune system working effectively.

“The introduction of the Covid 19 antibody test to our clinic has come as a direct result of concerns and requests from our clients.” Said Tina Periclis, Owner and Founder of The Clinic at Christos. “As lockdown starts to show signs of easing and we all make plans on returning to work, it is natural that individuals would like to be reassured whether they have built an immunity to Covid-19. Our clinics will run every Wednesday and Friday from 15.00 to 19.00 and appointments will last approximately 40 minutes. The test will cost £98.00 ( 0% VAT) as this is a registered medical procedure and this includes your pre-screening questionnaire, a personal appointment at our Milton Keynes clinic and your result being discussed with you by our qualified and fully insured nurses at your appointment.”

It is important to remember that this test will only determine if you have the Covid antibodies present in your blood. It is not a confirmation of immunity against Covid and any Covid variants and so it is vital that, even if you test positive for the Covid antibodies, you adhere to health guidelines including good hand hygiene and social distancing rules.
